Flexi School
Futures Flexi School presents an opportunity for young people between the ages of 14 and 18 (inclusive) who have been excluded or isolated from mainstream educational systems to continue their studies.
Flexi School offers ongoing support academically and socially through a negotiable attendance according to individual needs.
Flexi School privides a safe, secure and encouraging environment in which students complete their secondary studies and become valued members of the wider community.
The Co-ordinator / Student Support Officer and other support workers foster academic development, provide support and information services which assist young people to make appropriate choices in relation to their education, lifestyles and future.
A network of support services is in place and appropriate referrals can be made to other agencies and in-house support as the need arises.
Flexi School Philosophy
While every assistance is given to young people to achieve academically, success in this program is not measured solely on performance.
We recognise that young people often need to improve social and life skills to gain employment and modify behaviours. We support personal development that will assist transition to the wider community and employment opportunities.
Resources
Building Futures Flexi School offers students access to resources that will assist them to attain their educational goals. These include:
• Tutoring
• Computer / internet access
• Education and art resources
• Education from Years 9 - 12
• OLI (Open Learning Institute)
• Support for indigenous students
• Vocational training opportunities
• Volunteer tutors (skilled in a variety of subjects)
• Work experience
